In the northern region of Abitibi-Témiscamingue, the Orchid project emerges: a retirement home delicately nestled on the edge of wilderness. Like a blooming flower, it draws beneficial energy from the sun’s rays, warming and enlivening its interior spaces, offering its residents incomparable comfort while reducing their ecological footprint.

The owners’ original intention was to leave their vast home to free themselves and draw closer to each other. In this atmosphere of promise, “l’Orchidée” transcends its status as a simple house to become a symbol of rebirth, of rediscovering oneself and the wonders of life. Every detail testifies to this intention: fluid, luminous spaces, subtly integrated natural materials, creating a haven of peace where souls can blossom freely.

What gives the project a special dimension is the history that intertwines with it. For Mrs. and Mr. Lavoie, self-build is more than just a practical decision; it’s a precious heritage, a tradition where the family joins forces to perpetuate know-how. Mr. Lavoie, a passionate craftsman, joins forces with his son, the project’s creator, to shape every detail, thus passing on a soul to this residence, where craftsmanship blends with contemporary creativity.

In this ingenious home, every piece of furniture is a bespoke masterpiece, designed to optimize limited space without sacrificing comfort or style. Beds are transformed into ingenious desks with built-in storage, while the integrated kitchen accommodates a European refrigerator, freeing up precious centimeters. The central island, mounted on castors, offers unparalleled versatility, moving gracefully as needs and desires dictate.

The color red, so dear to Mr. Lavoie’s heart, delicately permeates the spaces, recalling his passionate and lively essence. The cherry wood ceiling, a tribute to the craftsmanship practiced by Ms. Lavoie’s father, combined with a wood-burning stove, tenderly evokes warm memories of our customers’ childhoods. Their presence in the design awakens comforting memories and infuses the whole with an atmosphere of conviviality and well-being.
